12 New Bars Inducted into The Good Beer Seal

On May 25, 2010 The Good Beer Seal announced that 12 new bars would be added to the original list of 15. Today, there are 27 Good Beer Seal bars in New York City!

The Good Beer Seal packed the joint at DBA in Brooklyn to welcome its new members, soon to be added to our calendar and links section. The new bars are, 124 Rabbit Club, Swift, Rattle N’ Hum, George Keeley’s, Pacific Standard, Waterfront Ale House, Brazen Head, Rebar, Lucky Dog, Mugs Ale House, Sunswick 35/35, and Bronx Ale House.

Good Beer and Good Food were joined by Good Company. In addition to the Good Beer Seal bar owners (both old and new), brewers, beer reps, beer writers and beer lovers all stepped out to support The Good Beer Seal and meet “the new guys”. Delicious eats were provided by Tchoup Shop and Ray Deter’s beer list at DBA did not disappoint the crowd!

Best of all, the camaradarie between The Good Beer Seal bar owners made the night truly enjoyable. One party goer quipped, “It is like a beer family reunion! I can’t remember the last time I got to see any of these guys!” Ahh. The Good Beer Seal, its like family with better beer and less baggage.

Patrick Donagher of Rattle N' Hum

Metromix was kind enough to cover the event and took so many pictures it is almost like being there!

For a taste of the evening, check out May 25 episode of Beer Sessions Radio where the guys from Pacific Standard and Rattle N’ Hum dish with Rachel Wharton and, of course, Jimmy Carbone and Ray Deter. Expect more fun stuff from The Good Beer Seal as July Good Beer Month is just around the corner!

Beers Around the World

On the Beer Sessions Radio Facebook page, there’s a discussion about a rather broad question from one of our listeners who wants to have a beer to represent every participating nation in the FIFA World Cup. That’s a tall order. I am pretty sure that there are some of our beer experts out there who could send him in the right direction. Right? Check out the Facebook page and add your two cents.

Beer Legends

JOn Lundbom, Dave Brodrick, Ray Deter

Roberta’s Restaurant always treats us well after a Beer Sessions Radio taping. Last night was no different. The beer was flowing, including a divine treat from Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes courtesy of a world class brewer and Beer Sessions guest, Jerome Rebetez. He had, quite literally, just hopped off a plane after skirting the Icelandic volcano situation that added an extra hour to his flight and, with bags and loving mother in tow rushed to make the end of the show! We are so pleased he could join us!

Monsieur Rebetez’s arrival was anxiously awaited by our other guests who are liquid luminaries in their own right. Dave Brodrick of Blind Tiger Ale House, joined us at the mic as our official Roving Reporter. Dave will be our boots on the ground, every month he will pepper us with tales from the craft beer trenches! Jon Lundbom of B. United Imports

Jerome Rebetez of Brassierie des Franches-Montagnes

made it to the studio as well. You can always trust that Jon will bring with him some of the finest brewed treats from across the globe and last night was no different. We ate well, had superb beers and some of the best company to be found anywhere.

Cheers to Beer!
