This Week On Beer Sessions Radio™ – Brew Book, New Brewery, Brew Art (11/1/11)

It is the start of a new month… and a new season, apparently: winter. Beer Sessions Radio will warm you up this week with a new book, a new brewery and a new piece of beer art.

The Book

Joshua M. Bernstein returns to our show with his first book, Brewed Awakening: Behind the Beers and Brewers Leading the World’s Craft Brewing Revolution, which is being released on Tuesday. Joshua spent the last six years covering the wide world of craft beer, and Brewed Awakening covers topics as varied as the growth of seasonal and organic beers to the extremes beer lovers go to in order to score a rare bottle of suds. The book is receiving rave reviews from the likes of Ken Grossman (founder of Sierra Nevada) and Greg Koch (co-founder of Stone Brewing). Following his appearance on our show, Joshua will host a book launch party at the City Reliquary in Brooklyn. Tickets are $25 for unlimited food and drink, plus you get a copy of the book (and if you find Joshua in the crowd, he will probably sign it for you as well). Check out the events page on his website for all the details on his upcoming book signings (and he’ll be at Jimmy’s No. 43 on Wednesday, November 9th).

A Brewery

If you made it to NYC Brewers Choice then you probably already know our next guest, Kenny Landin, from Crossroads Brewing Co. Kenny, along with Janine Bennett, will be in the studio with us to tell their remarkable story of going from NYC to Athens, NY, where after ups and downs (maybe even a crossroad or two) they discovered a historic opera house that would one day become home to a micro brewery.  Joining the brew team is Brandon Moore from American Beer Distribution Co., who is helping all of NYC enjoy Crossroads’ awesome beers.

A Piece of Beer Art

Eric Steen is an artist any uneducated beer philstine can appreciate – he creates beer art!  Eric lives in Colorado but is making the journey east for what promises to be one of our favorite art installations ever.  On November 18th and 19th at Performa 11, Eric will work with 25 NYC brewers to create a “pop-up” brew pub where he will create and serve an actual ton of beer from a brew pub of his own design. You can get tickets for the event for $25.
