Bar Profile: Beer Table in Park Slope, Brooklyn

Beer Table inhabits a cozy space on the southern end of 7th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn. If you wander down the avenue between 14th and 15th Streets, you’ll find an intimate space that offers rare brews and tasty morsels for discerning beer lovers. Proprietors Justin and Tricia Philips delight in sharing the beers they’ve discovered with their patrons and pairing these often exotic brews with good food.

On Tuesday nights, Beer Table features a prix fixe dinner offering 3 courses for $25. Add the suggested beer pairings to the dinner for $15 and even the hard to please connoisseur will find a surprise or two.

The Shelton Brothers Visit Beer Sessions Radio

Vuvuzelas and craft beer, two great tastes…

Joel and Will Shelton on Beer Sessions Radio

The Shelton Brothers joined us on Beer Sessions Radio this week and brought a lot of beer. A lot. It was daunting, really. The Shelton Brothers carry one of the finest beer portfolios around, focusing on small breweries with a natural and very personal approach to their craft.

That was a lot of beer!

The Shelton Brothers currently hold the record for most beer brought to Beer Sessions Radio!

On the Podcast

The Pour- Beer Sessions June 8

Tomorrow night at 5:00 PM, Jimmy and Ray will sit down with some of the most discerning beer drinkers in the industry. Jon Lundbom of B. United will be back for his second appearance on Beer Sessions Radio. No doubt he will bring some treasures with him, as will Ben Granger of Bierkraft fame. We’ve mentioned Bierkraft so often on the show that it is only fitting Ben finally joins us at the mic. Mike Cadoux, co-founder of Peak Organic Brewing will round out the guest list before he heads over to dba where some Peak brews will enjoy a place of honor on Ray’s beer list!

Speaking of honor, it’s always great to hear back from some of our listeners. Recently, Brew Lounge mentioned Beer Sessions Radio as a “must listen” podcast. Thanks, Brew Lounge for listening.

Philly Beer Week

T'gaverhopkte Brewer

A few of us enjoyed a pleasant side trip to Philly Beer Week. We visited bars like Monks Cafe, Benelux, Nodding Head Brewpub, and Triumph Brewpub. While there, we met up with 12 Percent Imports rep Maggie Fuller, aka “Beer Guru” and a brewer from Brouwerij t’Gaverhopke.

New Beers on Beer Sessions

Keegan Ales and Kelso on Beer Sessions

Tonight on Beer Sessions, Jimmy Carbone and guest host Manuela Totah were the first to sample some new beers from Keegan Ales. An Oak Aged Mother’s Milk and a Rye Whiskey Aged Hurricane Kitty were tasted in studio and on air. Geoff Wenzel and Mike Martinez of Keegan Ales shared their wares with fellow brewer, Kelly Taylor of Kelso, who brought some treats of his own including a Saison that delighted the production crew at Heritage Radio Network who licked their chops from behind the studio glass.

Beer Bucket, June 8

Who could blame them? There was so much delicious beer to go around it was hard not to salivate. In addition, our thoughtful guest co-host, Manuela, brought some great cheeses from Saxelby Cheesemongers to pair with the beers!

Many thanks to our great guests who share their time, talents, and beers!

Our Ears Are Burning

Recently, Rachel Wharton did a posting about our May 25 induction ceremony. In said post, she gave a tantalizing preview of one of our favorite July Good Beer Month events, Good Beer at BAM on July 28, 2010. If you love good food, you know that good food goes even better with good beer! You can check out Rachel’s post here and check out the information for Good Beer at BAM right here.

The Roving Beer Reporter Returns

Tomorrow night Dave Brodrick, our roving beer reporter, returns to Beer Sessions Radio with all the craft beer news we can handle, and then some. Hopefully, the “and then some” will end up on this very blog if we can coax Dave into contributing in print as well! Tune in to hear guests talk about IPAs, among other things, and submit your questions to beersessions@gmail.com.
