Sixpoint Craft Ales at Pig Island- October 2

Sixpoint Craft Ales has always been a big supporter of the local food/ beer scene. This summer, Shane Welch and Craig Frymark invited some of the Good Beer Seal members to the Sixpoint brewery to get their hands dirty making the special Sixpoint Signal for Meatopia: BBQ NYC. Afterward, Cathy Erway treated the gang to an incredible lunch sourced from Sixpoint’s own rooftop garden. You can read all about Cathy’s delicious potato salad at LunchatSixpoint.com. Meanwhile, if you were lamenting the limited availability of Sixpoint Signal, you will have another chance to have some!

Sixpoint is bringing back the Signal, along with a new release pumpkin saison and a new pilsner for Pig Island, a great food and beer event on beautiful Governor’s Island this Saturday, October 2. For tickets and further information, check out ilikepig.com.

Surly is Furious waiting for the train!
Surly is Furious waiting for the train!

This week on Beer Sessions Radio, Jimmy and Ray welcomed filmmaker and Good Beer Seal bar owner Paul Kermizian into the studio along with our roving reporter, Dave Brodrick. Paul talked about his experience making the film American Beer and his own Brooklyn bar, Barcade. The guys were also joined by a special call-in guest from the wilds of Minnesota, Omar Ansari of Surly Brewing Company.

After the show, Shane Welch of Sixpoint Craft Ales found himself at our table at Roberta’s Restaurant to cheerfully talk shop. The quip of the night belongs to Paul Kermizian, however, who informed us that, ” On the weekends I tell the staff when people ask for Amstel or Stella -tell them to get a Jack and Coke!”

The Shelton Brothers Visit Beer Sessions Radio

Vuvuzelas and craft beer, two great tastes…

Joel and Will Shelton on Beer Sessions Radio

The Shelton Brothers joined us on Beer Sessions Radio this week and brought a lot of beer. A lot. It was daunting, really. The Shelton Brothers carry one of the finest beer portfolios around, focusing on small breweries with a natural and very personal approach to their craft.

That was a lot of beer!

The Shelton Brothers currently hold the record for most beer brought to Beer Sessions Radio!

On the Podcast

The Pour- Beer Sessions June 8

Tomorrow night at 5:00 PM, Jimmy and Ray will sit down with some of the most discerning beer drinkers in the industry. Jon Lundbom of B. United will be back for his second appearance on Beer Sessions Radio. No doubt he will bring some treasures with him, as will Ben Granger of Bierkraft fame. We’ve mentioned Bierkraft so often on the show that it is only fitting Ben finally joins us at the mic. Mike Cadoux, co-founder of Peak Organic Brewing will round out the guest list before he heads over to dba where some Peak brews will enjoy a place of honor on Ray’s beer list!

Speaking of honor, it’s always great to hear back from some of our listeners. Recently, Brew Lounge mentioned Beer Sessions Radio as a “must listen” podcast. Thanks, Brew Lounge for listening.
